If you run fluorescent western blots, you know the ritual. Dilute your fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibody, pour it over the membrane, and then — wrap the whole tray in aluminum foil. Again. And when you peel it back to check the membrane, the foil tears. By the third wash step, your bench looks like a takeout counter, and you are never quite sure how much light actually reached your antibody.

Why light protection matters for fluorescent WB
Fluorophores like the 680 nm and 800 nm dyes used with LI-COR Odyssey, iBright, and similar imagers are vulnerable to photobleaching: every minute of ambient light exposure permanently destroys a fraction of the signal you paid for. The damage is cumulative and invisible until you image — weaker bands, lower signal-to-noise, and quantification you can't fully trust. That is why every fluorescent secondary antibody datasheet says the same thing: protect from light during incubation.
Foil is the traditional answer, but it is a bad one. It tears after a few uses, it never seals the same way twice, it falls off on the shaker, and it hides your membrane completely — you can't check anything without unwrapping and re-exposing.
A box that is simply... black
