Western Blot Incubation Box with 6 Strip Channels + 2 Membrane Wells

The Biofargo Western Blot Incubation & Washing Box is a two-layer western blot incubation box that puts 8 compartments in one hand-sized 13.5 x 8.5 cm footprint: 6 strip channels in the upper layer and 2 full-membrane wells in the lower layer. It comes in two colors on this page, each with its own SKU: Black (AC2123) for light-sensitive fluorescent westerns and Clear (AC2153) for see-through monitoring of chemiluminescent workflows, staining and western blot washing, or as a money-saving Set of 1 Black + 1 Clear (AC2123-2153).

Built as a western blot antibody incubation box and western blot membrane incubation box in one, it replaces a stack of single-well western blot boxes and western blot trays on your shaker.

Choose Your Color or the 2-Box Set

Color SKU Best for
Black (light-protective) AC2123 Fluorescent western blot (including near infrared western blot imaging), fluorophore-conjugated antibodies, any light-sensitive incubation
Clear (see-through) AC2153 Chemiluminescent (HRP/ECL) western blot, membrane staining, and washes you want to watch without opening the lid
Set: 1 Black + 1 Clear ($35, save $3) AC2123-2153 Labs running both fluorescent and chemiluminescent westerns: black for fluorescent incubations, clear for staining and washes

Both colors share the same size, layout and price, and each is sold as 1 piece. Many labs keep both: clear for daytime washes, black for overnight fluorescent incubations. The 2-box set gives you one of each for $35 instead of $38.

Key Benefits

  • No more foil for fluorescent western blot (Black AC2123). The opaque black PP body and lid block ambient light during incubation, washing and transport, so you can protect fluorescent antibodies without wrapping and re-wrapping aluminum foil.
  • 8 compartments, one shaker spot. Six strip channels plus two full-membrane wells in one box. One primary incubation no longer has to take over two shakers.
  • Save expensive antibody. Narrow 2.3 x 8.3 cm channels cover a strip with about 1-2 mL of antibody dilution, and let you probe 6 different targets from one gel at the same time, ideal for strip western blot experiments.
  • Spill-proof latch lid. The locking latch clip (red on Black, orange on Clear) holds the lid tight, so you can shake it, tilt it and carry it to the cold room with no spills and less evaporation on overnight incubations.
  • Drainage outlet for buffer exchange. Pour off wash buffer and exchange solutions more easily, with less residual liquid between washing steps.
  • Chemical-resistant, reusable PP. Polypropylene resists common laboratory reagents and stands up to repeated western blot use.

Applications

  • Blocking and primary/secondary antibody incubation for western blot
  • Strip-blot multiplexing: up to 6 antibodies on strips cut from one membrane
  • Western blot washing (TBST / PBST steps)
  • Protein membrane staining and destaining
  • Fluorescent western blot incubations (Black AC2123) and chemiluminescent western blot workflows (either color)
  • Overnight incubation in the cold room

Western Blot Incubation Tray vs Typical Single-Well Box

Most western blot boxes, western blot incubation boxes and western blot containers hold one membrane per container. This multi-compartment incubation tray splits the same bench space into independent compartments.

Biofargo 8-Compartment Box Typical single-well box
Compartments per box 8 (6 strips + 2 membranes) 1
Layout Two layers: strips upper, membranes lower Single open well
Different antibodies at once Up to 6 strips + 2 membranes in one box One condition per box
Color options Black (AC2123), Clear (AC2153) or 1+1 set (AC2123-2153) Varies by supplier
Minimum purchase 1 piece Often sold in multi-packs

FAQ

Black (AC2123) or Clear (AC2153): which should I order?
Order Black (AC2123) for fluorescent western blots and any step with fluorophore-conjugated antibodies or other light-sensitive reagents. Order Clear (AC2153) when you want to see the membrane and solutions without opening the lid, for example during washes, staining or standard HRP/ECL workflows. Chemiluminescent westerns work in either color, because the substrate is added at the imaging step.
What is in the 2-box set (AC2123-2153)?
One Black box (AC2123) for fluorescent western blot incubations and one Clear box (AC2153) for chemiluminescent workflows, staining and washes. Same size and layout, $35 for the pair.
What is a western blot incubation box used for?
It holds the membrane or membrane strips during blocking, antibody incubation, washing and staining steps of a western blot. The lid keeps dust out and reduces evaporation.
How much antibody do I need per strip?
About 1-2 mL of antibody dilution covers a strip in each 2.3 x 8.3 cm channel. Each 6.4 x 8.4 cm membrane well takes about 4-6 mL.
Can I run different primary antibodies in adjacent channels?
Yes. Each of the 6 upper channels is fully independent with no cross-flow, so you can incubate 6 different antibodies side by side.
Can this box be used for fluorescent western blots?
Yes. Choose the Black version (AC2123), our western blot box black option for fluorescent and near infrared western blot imaging. Its opaque body and lid keep ambient light off fluorophore-conjugated antibodies during incubation and washing.
Is the black box light-proof?
The body and lid of AC2123 are molded from opaque black polypropylene, which blocks ambient light during incubation, washing and transport, so you do not need to wrap the box in foil.
Can I incubate overnight in the cold room?
Yes. The latch lid locks tightly, so you can carry the box to the cold room without spills, and it reduces evaporation during overnight incubations.
Is this suitable for PVDF and nitrocellulose membranes?
Yes. It is compatible with both PVDF and nitrocellulose membranes commonly used in western blot experiments.
Can it be reused?
Yes. It is designed for repeated laboratory use when properly cleaned and maintained.
Is it dishwasher-safe?
We recommend hand-washing with mild detergent and rinsing with distilled water. PP is generally dishwasher-safe; avoid high-heat drying cycles.

When can I expect my order to ship?

Most orders are filled and shipped within 2-3 business days from the time they are received.

Our standard shipping usually take 2-5 days.

We also provide express shippping for time-sensitive deliveries.
