Description
A crystalline solid with color ranging from pale orange or pink to reddish-orange, yellow, red, or purple.
Maximum absorption wavelength (λmax): 517 nm (0.1 mol/L NaOH).
Soluble in alkaline aqueous solutions, acetone, and ethanol; slightly soluble in methanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO); insoluble in water, mineral oil, and toluene.
Melting point: 295–300°C.
