Description
The Biofargo Fluorometer X3 (BF-M2003) is an eight-position fluorometer for fluorescence-based quantification using matched assay reagents. It supports dsDNA HS, dsDNA BR, RNA HS, RNA BR, RNA XR, ssDNA, microRNA and Protein BR.
Use 1–20 µL of sample with the reaction volume specified by the selected assay. The instrument has a 5-inch touchscreen, two-point calibration and USB data export. The specified read time is no more than 5 seconds per sample; this excludes sample preparation and incubation.
Assay reagents and tubes are purchased separately. For research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.

Features
Eight individually selectable sample positions with clear 0.2 mL tubes.
Blue and red optical channels support DNA, RNA and Protein BR assays.
Low sample input of 1–20 µL for supported assays.
Touchscreen operation and two-point calibration.
USB export supports experiment data review.
RFU measurement and kinetics modes for fluorescence research; select the channel supported by this model.
Applications
-
DNA quantification: Use matching dsDNA HS, dsDNA BR or ssDNA reagents for purified nucleic acid samples and input normalization.
-
RNA quantification: Use matching RNA HS, BR or XR assays for RNA concentration measurement. Concentration measurement does not establish RNA integrity.
-
microRNA research: Use a dedicated microRNA assay and its corresponding program; routine RNA HS/BR reagents are not interchangeable.
-
Protein quantification: Use compatible Protein BR reagents and their assay instructions. Protein BR target mass is expressed in µg, not ng; usable range is assay dependent.
-
Fluorescence research: Measure raw fluorescence or monitor fluorescence over time with the available optical channel(s).
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How does X3 compare with Qubit fluorometers?
X1 is a single-sample instrument, while X3 provides eight sample positions. Qubit 4 is also a single-sample instrument and Qubit Flex measures up to eight samples. Optical filters, consumables, software, assay menus and validation differ; matching sample capacity does not establish equivalent analytical performance.
Which reagents can I use?
The technical guide lists Biofargo BF-T1002, BF-T1004, BF-T1005, BF-T1006, BF-T1007 and BF-T1008-V2 and selected Qubit reagents. Use the matching assay program, kit standards and instrument-specified tubes. Compatibility is based on the supplier guide, not Thermo Fisher endorsement.
Which tubes does X3 require?
Instrument-specified clear 0.2 mL PCR single tubes or eight-tube strips; flat, straight caps required. Use the tube geometry specified in the technical guide; the 0.5 mL tubes used by X1 cannot be substituted for X3 tubes.
Is the read time the total assay time?
No. The specification is ≤5 seconds per sample. Preparation, calibration and incubation add time. It does not establish that eight samples are measured together in five seconds.
How do I calibrate the assay?
Select the appropriate program and read the two standards supplied with the chosen kit. For the listed nucleic acid assays, prepare each standard with 10 µL of standard and 190 µL of working solution. Enter the correct sample input volume before reading unknowns. Do not mix standards or calibration curves from different kits.
Can I export results?
Yes. Insert a USB flash drive and use the data-query/export function described in the technical guide.
What is included with the instrument?
The technical packing list includes the fluorometer, power cord, USB drive with user guide and a packing list. Assay reagents and assay tubes are separate purchases.
Is the instrument intended for diagnostic use?
No. For research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
