Description
IL-1β (Interleukin-1β) is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in immune regulation, inflammatory responses, and cellular signaling. The mature form of IL-1β adopts a β-trefoil structure composed of 12 β-strands and interacts via surface residues with the IL-1R1 receptor to initiate downstream signaling. IL-1β stimulates the secretion of other inflammatory factors, such as TNF-α and IL-6, as well as chemokines, thereby mimicking an in vivo inflammatory environment. Additionally, it activates immune cells by promoting T cell proliferation, B cell differentiation, and enhancing the antigen-presenting capacity of macrophages and dendritic cells.
