Application
Pyrogallol has been used:
-
in the superoxide dismutase (SOD) assay
-
to induce modification in mitochondrial DNA and to characterize the same
-
as a standard to confirm the presence of pyrogallol in butanol fraction of white rose petal extract
Biochem/physiol Actions
Pyrogallol induces superoxide anion (O2-) generation and in the presence of metal ions, it stimulates oxidative damage to DNA and lipids.
