Description
Primary human sebocytes are difficult to obtain and lose proliferative capacity after a few passages, which limits their use in sebum, acne and skin barrier research. Biofargo Immortalized Human Sebaceous Gland Cells provide a stable, expandable human sebocyte model for in vitro studies.
The cells were derived from the sebaceous gland of a 30-year-old male donor and immortalized by lentiviral transduction of the SV40 large T antigen. They grow as adherent polygonal cells on gelatin-coated vessels in epithelial cell medium and can be subcultured at 1:3 to 1:5.

FAQs
What medium should be used for these cells?
Use epithelial cell complete medium. Culture at 37 °C with 5% CO2.
Do the culture vessels need coating?
Yes. Coat vessels with 0.1% gelatin at 37 °C for 1 h and wash once with PBS before seeding.
How were the cells immortalized?
The cells were immortalized by lentiviral transduction of the SV40 large T antigen.
How should the cryovial be thawed?
Thaw quickly in a 37 °C water bath for about 2 minutes, transfer to 5 mL complete medium, centrifuge at 200 × g for 5–10 min to remove the freezing medium, and seed into a gelatin-coated flask.
What subculture ratio is recommended?
Subculture at 1:3 to 1:5 by flask surface area using 0.25% trypsin–0.53 mM EDTA.
