Product Description

SHENTEK® Virus DNA & RNA Extraction Kit is a magnetic-particle based kit designed for isolation of viral DNA and RNA from cell samples (up to 10^7 cells) and harvested virus bulk (liquid). The kit supports both manual workflows and automated extraction with the SHENTEK® rHCDpurify system. Two sample workflows are provided: Method 1 (for viruses replicated in host nucleus or unknown viruses) includes an optional nuclease digestion step after lysis to reduce background nucleic acids; Method 2 (for viruses replicated in host cytoplasm) uses lysis followed by centrifugation and extraction of the supernatant. The kit contains protease digestion, binding, wash and elution reagents and magnetic particles to deliver purified nucleic acids suitable for downstream molecular assays (e.g., PCR/qPCR, sequencing). The kit is supplied for 50 extractions.

Attention

• Read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and wear appropriate PPE (eye protection, masks, gloves, lab coat).

• Separate laboratory areas for reagent preparation, sample preparation and amplification to avoid contamination.

• Ensure ambient temperature ≥ 22 °C at experiment start.

• Change gloves regularly and use dedicated protective equipment for different lab areas.

• Centrifuge tubes before opening to avoid aerosols; spin down liquid on tube caps/walls.

• Discard and disinfect liquid waste and used tips according to lab biosafety procedures.

• Do not over-dry magnetic particle pellet; over-drying may hinder resuspension during elution.

• Place tubes on magnetic stand with pellet oriented toward the magnet and rotate tubes slowly to accelerate bead aggregation.

• After extraction, perform DNA/RNA detection assays preferably the same day for accurate results.

• For automated runs with rHCDpurify: perform UV sterilization for at least 15 minutes and wipe interior with 75% ethanol before and after runs; maintain at least 30 min between extractions.
