Description
Recombinant Human EPO Protein is a biologically active, glycosylated human erythropoietin produced in HEK293 cells. The recombinant protein is based on the human EPO reference sequence NP_000790.2 and contains a C-terminal His tag.
Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein cytokine that promotes the proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells, including colony-forming unit-erythroid (CFU-E) cells, into mature erythrocytes. Physiological EPO production occurs primarily in the kidneys in adults, while the liver is the predominant source during fetal and neonatal development.
In addition to its established role in erythropoiesis, EPO has been studied for non-hematopoietic biological functions associated with angiogenesis, vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, hypoxia-related neuroprotection, and the regulation of certain B-cell responses.
This HEK293-derived protein is validated in a TF-1 cell proliferation assay and is intended for in vitro cell culture and laboratory research involving erythropoiesis, EPO receptor signaling, and related biological processes. It is not intended for direct clinical or therapeutic use.
