Compatible with Bio-Rad Mini Systems and Free MOPS Buffer
Description
FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels are polyacrylamide electrophoresis gels designed for the separation of a wide range of protein sizes. They are available in 12-well and 15-well formats, with large sample loading capacities—up to 50 µL per well for the 12-well format and 30 µL per well for the 15-well format.
Produced using automated gel-casting technology, FuturePAGE™ gels ensure excellent batch-to-batch consistency and superior quality. The unique gel buffer formula delivers sharper bands and higher resolution, while the neutral pH prevents protein re-modification during electrophoresis, thereby improving protein stability and gel performance.
Compared with traditional hand-cast gels, FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels offer the following advantages:
-
Easy to use: Ready-to-use format saves preparation time.
-
Safe and reliable: Eliminates the need to handle toxic reagents.
-
Accurate and reproducible results: Automated casting technology ensures consistent quality and experimental reproducibility.

FAQ
What is FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gel used for?
FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gel is used for protein electrophoresis, especially SDS-PAGE protein separation before staining, molecular weight analysis, or protein transfer. The ready-to-use polyacrylamide gel format helps reduce gel preparation time and improves consistency compared with traditional hand-cast gels.
Is FuturePAGE™ a Bis-Tris precast protein gel?
Yes. FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels use Bis-Tris gel chemistry and are designed for routine protein separation by electrophoresis. Bis-Tris precast gels are commonly selected for stable electrophoresis conditions, clear protein band resolution, and reproducible SDS-PAGE workflows.
What running buffer should be used with FuturePAGE™ Bis-Tris gels?
MOPS running buffer is recommended for FuturePAGE™ Bis-Tris Precast Protein Gels. For best results, use fresh 1× electrophoresis buffer, rinse the wells before loading samples, and follow the recommended electrophoresis conditions for consistent protein separation and band resolution.
What is a 4–20% gradient precast protein gel used for?
A 4–20% gradient precast protein gel is used when samples contain proteins across a broad molecular weight range. The gradient format allows larger proteins to migrate through the lower-percentage region while smaller proteins are better resolved in the higher-percentage region, making it suitable for broad-range SDS-PAGE analysis.
Can FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gel be used before Western blot transfer?
Yes. FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gel can be used for SDS-PAGE protein separation before Western blot transfer. After electrophoresis, the gel can be removed from the cassette and used for staining or protein transfer according to the experimental workflow.
Is FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gel compatible with Bio-Rad Mini-PROTEAN® systems?
FuturePAGE™ precast protein gels are designed in a mini gel format and are compatible with Bio-Rad Mini-PROTEAN® systems listed on this product page, as well as other electrophoresis apparatus designed for gels of the same dimensions. This helps laboratories use the gels without special adapters when the system dimensions match.
What is the difference between 12-well and 15-well precast protein gels?
The main difference is sample loading capacity and sample throughput. The 12-well format supports up to 50 µL per well, making it useful when larger sample volumes are needed. The 15-well format supports up to 30 µL per well and is suitable when more samples need to be run on one gel.
Why choose a precast protein gel instead of a hand-cast gel?
Precast protein gels save preparation time, reduce direct handling of toxic gel-casting reagents, and improve run-to-run consistency. FuturePAGE™ gels are produced using automated gel-casting technology to support more reproducible electrophoresis results compared with traditional lab-prepared gels.
What protein analysis workflows are suitable for FuturePAGE™ gels?
FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels are suitable for SDS-PAGE protein separation, molecular weight analysis, recombinant protein checking, protein purity assessment, Coomassie staining workflows, and protein transfer before Western blotting. They are designed for routine protein electrophoresis in research, biotechnology, teaching, and quality control laboratories.
How should FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels be stored?
FuturePAGE™ Precast Protein Gels should be stored flat at 2–8 °C and should not be frozen. Keep the gels sealed until use to help maintain gel stability, sample well integrity, and consistent electrophoresis performance.
