Description

Transferring cultured cells from a culture vessel to a separate microscope slide can add handling steps to workflows that require fixation, staining and imaging. Biofargo Chambered Cell Culture Slides provide a single glass-slide format in which cells can be seeded, incubated, fixed, stained and imaged without first transferring the sample to another slide.

Each chambered cell culture slide consists of a clear polystyrene chamber mounted on a glass slide and supported by a polypropylene holder. The removable chamber is assembled without chemical adhesives, allowing the chamber and slide to be separated for downstream staining and microscopic observation.

Available as 1 well, 2 well, 4 well and 8 well chamber slides, the series supports different sample numbers, growth areas and working volumes. Alphanumeric markings assist with sample identification, while the easy-to-disassemble snap design ensures convenient chamber removal for downstream processing.

The sterile cell culture slides are EO sterilized, non-pyrogenic, non-cytotoxic and free of DNase, RNase and human DNA. Packing trays can also be used as incubation racks in standard CO2 incubators.

Applications

Adherent Cell Culture and Cell Morphology Observation

Biofargo Chambered Cell Culture Slides can be used to culture adherent cells directly on a glass microscope slide. Cells can remain on the same slide during incubation and subsequent morphology observation, reducing the need to transfer the sample to a separate imaging surface.

Immunocytochemistry

The removable chamber design supports immunocytochemistry workflows in which cells are cultured, fixed and stained on the same cell culture glass slide. After culture, the chamber can be separated from the slide to simplify downstream staining and microscopic observation.

Immunofluorescence Staining and Imaging

The glass-bottom chamber slide format is suitable for workflows involving cell fixation, immunofluorescence staining and fluorescence microscopy. Multiple well formats allow separate samples or staining conditions to be arranged on a single slide.

Drug Screening and Cytotoxicity Assays

The individual wells of the 2 well, 4 well and 8 well chamber slides can be used to maintain separate samples or experimental conditions during cell-based drug screening and cytotoxicity assays.

Virus and Toxicity Assays

The chambered cell culture slides can be used for cell-based virus and toxicity testing where cells must be cultured, treated, fixed, stained and observed on a microscope slide.

Microscopy Sample Preparation

Cells can be cultured and prepared directly on the glass slide for subsequent microscopic observation. The removable chamber and adhesive-free construction simplify slide access after culture and staining.

Time-Lapse and Live-Cell Imaging

The chamber slide format may be used for time-lapse microscopy and live-cell imaging workflows when combined with appropriate accessories and experimental conditions.

FAQ

What are chambered cell culture slides?

Chambered cell culture slides combine one or more culture chambers with a glass microscope slide. They allow cells to be seeded, incubated, fixed, stained and imaged on the same slide.

What are Biofargo Chambered Cell Culture Slides used for?

They are intended for adherent cell culture, cell morphology observation, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, drug screening, cytotoxicity assays, virus assays, toxicity assays and microscopy sample preparation.

Can cells be cultured directly on the glass slide?

Yes. The product is designed to allow cells to be seeded and cultured directly on the glass slide before fixation, staining and microscopic observation.

Can the chamber be removed after cell culture?

Yes. The clear polystyrene chamber is removable. The easy-open design simplifies separation of the chamber from the glass microscope slide for downstream staining and imaging procedures.

Are chemical adhesives used to attach the chamber?

No. The chambered cell culture slides are manufactured without chemical adhesives.

What materials are used to manufacture the slides?

The chamber is made of polystyrene, the culture slide is glass and the holder is polypropylene.

Which well formats are available?

The series includes 1 well, 2 well, 4 well and 8 well chamber slides.

Which chamber slide should I select?

Select the format according to the number of separate culture conditions, required growth area and working volume. The 1 well slide provides one 9.40 cm² culture area. The 2 well, 4 well and 8 well formats provide progressively more individual culture wells with lower working volumes per well.

What is the growth area of each chamber slide?

The 1 well format has a growth area of 9.40 cm². The 2 well format has a growth area of 4.55 cm² per well. The 4 well format has a growth area of 2.13 cm² per well. The 8 well format has a growth area of 0.98 cm² per well.

What is the recommended working volume per well?
