Description
MycGuard™-1 Solution is a 100× concentrated contamination-control reagent designed for use in the humidity water pan, water tray, or compatible sealed or integrated humidity reservoir of a CO₂ incubator. It helps reduce the risk of the incubator humidification water becoming a potential source of mycoplasma contamination during routine cell culture.
Add MycGuard™-1 directly to the water in the incubator pan at a dilution ratio of 1:100. One 100 mL bottle can prepare approximately 10 L of treated water when used at the recommended dilution.
MycGuard™-1 is intended specifically for CO₂ incubator humidification water systems. It must not be added directly to cell culture media or applied to cells. For ordinary laboratory water baths, use MycGuard™-2 or another product specifically intended for that application.
Research Use Only: This product is intended for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for diagnostic, therapeutic, food, household, or clinical use.

Key Features
- Non-corrosive and material compatible: The peptide-based active ingredient is non-corrosive and suitable for metal components, water pans, and internal tubing in compatible CO₂ incubator humidification systems.
- Designed for CO₂ incubator water pans: Formulated for routine contamination control in open humidity water pans, water trays, and compatible sealed or integrated humidity reservoirs.
- 100× concentrated solution: Dilutes at 1:100 for convenient routine use.
- Helps reduce contamination risk: Supports routine control of potential mycoplasma contamination sources within the incubator water pan.
- Simple maintenance workflow: Add the required amount directly to the water pan after cleaning and refilling.
- Efficient package size: One 100 mL bottle prepares approximately 10 L of treated water at the recommended dilution.
Applications
- Routine contamination control for CO₂ incubator humidity water pans and compatible sealed or integrated humidity reservoirs
- Maintenance of water trays used to provide humidity during cell culture
- Reduction of potential environmental mycoplasma contamination sources
- Scheduled cleaning and water-replacement programs for compatible CO₂ incubators
Important: MycGuard™-1 is not a treatment reagent for contaminated cell cultures. It must not be added to culture media, sprayed onto work surfaces, or used in an ordinary laboratory water bath.
Instructions for Use
- Wear a laboratory coat and suitable disposable gloves before handling the product.
- Clean the incubator water pan according to the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
- Refill the pan with the type of water recommended by the incubator manufacturer.
- Add MycGuard™-1 at a ratio of 1:100. For example, add 10 mL of MycGuard™-1 to 1 L of water.
- Mix gently and return the water pan to the incubator.
- Replace the treated water every 7–10 days, or when the incubator reservoir is drained and refilled as part of the regular water-change cycle.
MycGuard™-1 may also be used in CO₂ incubators with a sealed or integrated humidity reservoir. Add it at the recommended 1:100 dilution whenever the reservoir is drained and refilled as part of the regular water-change cycle. The non-corrosive, peptide-based formulation is suitable for metal components and internal tubing. Long-term stability testing in fully closed reservoir systems is ongoing.
Storage and Handling
- Store at room temperature.
- Shelf life is 12 months when stored under the recommended conditions.
- Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
- Use appropriate laboratory protective equipment when handling.
- Refer to the current product label, MSDS, and lot-specific Certificate of Analysis for additional information.

FAQ
Can I use MycGuard™-1 in a sealed or automatic humidification system?
Yes. MycGuard™-1 is compatible with sealed reservoirs, internal tubing and integrated humidification systems as well as open water pans. Add it at the 1:100 dilution during your normal water-change cycle. The peptide formulation is non-corrosive and non-volatile and will not damage metal components or tubing.
What is MycGuard™-1 used for?
MycGuard™-1 is designed for use in the humidity water pan, water tray, or compatible sealed or integrated humidity reservoir of a CO₂ incubator. It helps reduce the risk of humidification water becoming a potential source of mycoplasma contamination during routine cell culture.
How should MycGuard™-1 be diluted?
Add MycGuard™-1 directly to the incubator water pan at a ratio of 1:100. For example, add 10 mL of MycGuard™-1 to 1 L of water. One 100 mL bottle can prepare approximately 10 L of treated water.
How often should the treated water be replaced?
Replace the treated water every 7–10 days. For a sealed or integrated humidity reservoir, add MycGuard™-1 whenever the reservoir is drained and refilled as part of the regular water-change cycle.
Can MycGuard™-1 be added directly to cell culture media?
No. MycGuard™-1 is intended only for the humidity water pan, water tray, or compatible reservoir of a CO₂ incubator. It must not be added directly to cells, culture media, or culture vessels.
Can MycGuard™-1 be used in an ordinary laboratory water bath?
No. MycGuard™-1 is specifically intended for CO₂ incubator humidification systems. For an ordinary laboratory water bath, use MycGuard™-2 or another product validated for that application.
How should MycGuard™-1 be stored?
Store MycGuard™-1 at room temperature with the container tightly closed. The product has a shelf life of 12 months under the recommended storage conditions.
Does MycGuard™-1 treat contaminated cell cultures?
No. MycGuard™-1 is an environmental contamination-prevention product for the incubator water pan. It is not a mycoplasma detection kit or a treatment reagent for contaminated cells.
