Description
DNase I (DD0099) is a chromatographically purified endonuclease derived from bovine pancreas that efficiently digests double-stranded DNA into oligonucleotides containing 3'-OH termini. In the presence of Mg²⁺ ions, DNase I introduces single-strand nicks, while Mn²⁺ enables cleavage of both DNA strands.
This high-activity DNase I (>500 Kunitz U/mg) is widely used for:
-
Removal of genomic DNA contamination from RNA samples
-
RNA preparation prior to RT-PCR and qPCR
-
Single-cell suspension preparation from tissues
-
Cell isolation workflows
-
Nick translation experiments
-
Random DNA fragmentation
-
Molecular cloning applications
The enzyme is supplied as a lyophilized powder and provides reliable DNA digestion performance in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, and cancer research laboratories.

FAQ
Does Biofargo DNase I contain an RNase inhibitor?
No, this DNase I does not include an RNase inhibitor. For RNA-sensitive applications, please use RNase-free reagents and handling procedures.
What is DNase I used for?
DNase I is used to digest DNA during RNA purification, tissue dissociation, cell isolation, molecular cloning, and RT-PCR sample preparation.
Can DNase I remove genomic DNA before RT-PCR?
Yes. DNase I efficiently removes contaminating genomic DNA from RNA samples before reverse transcription and PCR analysis.
Is DNase I suitable for single-cell preparation?
Yes. DNase I is commonly used during tissue dissociation to reduce DNA-mediated cell clumping and improve single-cell suspension quality.
What is the activity of Bio Basic DNase I?
Biofargo DNase I provides activity greater than 500 Kunitz Units per mg.
What is the source of this DNase I?
This enzyme is derived from bovine pancreas.
