Description
GM-CSF (Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor), a member of the colony-stimulating factor (CSF) family, is a cytokine that regulates hematopoiesis and immune cell function. It is secreted by various cell types, including granulocytes, dendritic cells, T cells, and B cells, and primarily modulates cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and function through the activation of specific signaling pathways such as JAK/STAT, MAPK, and PI3K.GM-CSF promotes the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells, and stimulates the lineage-specific differentiation and expansion of granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils) and macrophages. It also acts synergistically with cytokines such as IL-3 and SCF to enhance multi-lineage hematopoiesis.
