Description
Flt-3L (Fms-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand) is a protein secreted by bone marrow stromal cells and other cell types. It belongs to the hematopoietic growth factor family and acts as the specific ligand for the FLT3 receptor. Upon binding to the FLT3 receptor, Flt-3L induces receptor dimerization and phosphorylation of tyrosine residues, thereby activating downstream signaling pathways such as RAS/MAPK/ERK, which influence cell fate decisions and differentiation. Flt-3L potently activates hematopoietic stem cells and is recognized as a stem cell growth factor. It acts synergistically with other growth factors—including GM-CSF, G-CSF, and IL-3—to promote the proliferation of stem cells, progenitor cells, dendritic cells, and natural killer cells.
