Description
FGF-8b (Fibroblast Growth Factor 8b), an important member of the FGF family, is a splice variant of the FGF-8 isoform composed of 194 amino acids. It possesses heparin-binding capacity and can activate downstream signaling pathways by interacting with heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs). FGF-8b promotes cell proliferation, survival, and migration, playing significant roles in neural development, mesoderm formation, and carcinogenesis. It can be utilized to maintain the undifferentiated state of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and works synergistically with factors such as BMP and WNT to promote the proliferation and directed differentiation of neural precursor cells.
