Description

BMP-9 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 9), also known as Growth Differentiation Factor-2 (GDF-2), belongs to the TGF-β superfamily. It signals through heteromeric complexes composed of type I and type II BMP receptors and has been identified in recent years as a bone morphogenetic protein with exceptionally potent osteoinductive activity. BMP-9 can induce osteogenic differentiation in various cell types, including osteoblasts, osteoprogenitor cells, and other committed stem cells.
