Description
Immortalized RFP-Expressing Human Primary Lung Fibroblasts are immortalized fibroblasts isolated from human lung tissue and stably labeled with red fluorescent protein (RFP). Cells are expanded in gelatin-coated tissue culture flasks, harvested at passage 2–3 and cryopreserved at 0.5 × 106 cells per vial. They show typical spindle-shaped fibroblast morphology and are characterized by fibronectin immunofluorescence.
Red fluorescent protein (RFP) is introduced by lentiviral transduction, giving stable, bright red fluorescence that is retained through cell division. Cells can be tracked live by fluorescence microscopy, high-content imaging or flow cytometry with a standard RFP/TRITC filter set, without antibody staining. Immortalization extends expansion to more than 10 passages, giving a renewable, reporter-labeled lung fibroblast population for long-term and repeat experiments.
Suggested medium: Complete Fibroblast Medium with Supplement Kit, 500 mL.

Do not store primary cells at −20 °C or −80 °C.
Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Common questions about Immortalized RFP-Expressing Human Primary Lung Fibroblasts.
How is the RFP label introduced, and is it stable?
RFP is introduced by lentiviral transduction, which integrates the reporter into the genome. Expression is stable and passed on through cell division.
Which filter set should I use to image these cells?
A standard RFP or TRITC filter set (yellow-green excitation, red emission) is suitable for microscopy, high-content imaging and flow cytometry.
What medium and culture vessel do you recommend?
Use the Complete Fibroblast Medium with Supplement Kit, 500 mL and gelatin-coated tissue culture flasks (0.1% gelatin) for best attachment and growth.
How many passages can the cells be expanded?
More than 10 passages at a 1:2 split ratio.
Should I choose primary or immortalized cells?
Primary cells best reflect native lung fibroblast biology but have a limited lifespan. Immortalized cells provide a renewable supply for repeat and long-term experiments. Many labs use primary cells for key experiments and immortalized cells for assay development and screening.
How should the cells be stored on arrival?
Transfer vials to liquid nitrogen immediately. Do not store at −20 °C or −80 °C, and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
Are these cells for clinical use?
No. They are for research use only and are not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
Biosafety
Handle all human-derived cells as potentially infectious and follow BSL-2 practices as described in Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL).
When can I expect my order to ship?
Most orders are filled and shipped within 2-3 business days from the time they are received.
Our standard shipping usually take 2-5 days.
We also provide express shippping for time-sensitive deliveries.
