Description
Complete Fibroblast Medium with Supplement Kit, 500 mL is a complete culture medium designed for the growth and proliferation of fibroblasts in vitro. It has been tested and optimized for fibroblast culture and is formulated for use with 5% CO2 and 95% air in a humidified incubator.
The kit contains 500 mL of basal medium — with essential and non-essential amino acids, vitamins, organic and inorganic compounds, hormones, growth factors and trace minerals — together with a supplement kit of FGF, hydrocortisone, antibiotic-antimycotic solution and fetal bovine serum. It is the suggested medium for Biofargo primary fibroblasts, including human and canine lung fibroblasts.

Which cells is this medium suitable for?
It is designed and optimized for the culture of fibroblasts, and is the suggested medium for Biofargo primary fibroblasts, including human and canine lung fibroblasts and their GFP-, RFP- and luciferase-expressing and immortalized versions.
How do I prepare the complete medium?
Thaw the supplement components, add the entire supplement kit to the 500 mL basal medium under sterile conditions, and mix gently. Label the bottle with the preparation date.
How long is the complete medium stable?
After supplementation, the complete medium can be stored at 4 °C, protected from light, for up to two months. To assure sterility after two weeks, or if sterility may have been compromised during supplementation, the medium can be refiltered through a 0.2 µm filter.
Do fibroblasts need a coated culture vessel?
Biofargo primary fibroblasts are expanded in gelatin pre-coated tissue culture flasks. Pre-coating with a 0.1% gelatin solution is recommended for best attachment.
Is a phenol red-free or serum-free version available?
Yes. Phenol red-free and serum-free fibroblast medium formats, as well as the basal medium alone, are available on request. Please contact contact@biofargo.com for a quote.
Can it be used for clinical or diagnostic purposes?
No. This product is for research use only and is not intended for human, diagnostic or therapeutic use.
