Description
Human Epithelial Cell Medium Kit is a low-serum medium system for primary epithelial cells from a wide range of tissues, including the respiratory and digestive tracts, cornea, kidney, mammary gland and prostate. It promotes attachment and spreading and maintains viability, proliferation, epithelial phenotype and key functions.
Each kit combines 480 mL of epithelial basal medium with one of two 20 mL supplements: EpiGM-M for most epithelial cell types, or EpiGM-B for retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). The supplements contain recombinant human EGF and transferrin and a small amount (2% v/v) of premium FBS to reduce senescence of primary epithelial cells.

Kit Components
| Component | Volume | Storage |
| Epithelial Basal Medium | 480 mL | 4 °C |
| EpiGM-M or EpiGM-B Supplement | 20 mL | −20 °C |
Storage & Shipping
Store the basal medium at 4 °C and the supplement at −20 °C. Shelf life 12 months.
Complete medium: store at 2–8 °C and use within 4 weeks.
Shipped with ice packs and dry ice.
Protocol Overview
Thaw the supplement at 4 °C overnight or for 1–2 hours at room temperature, then add it to the basal medium (or mix 4 mL supplement with 96 mL basal medium for smaller batches).
Add 0.5–1% antibiotics if desired.
Seed primary epithelial cells at 1–1.5 × 104 cells/cm² and change the medium every other day until 70–80% confluent.
For routine passaging, seed at 5–8 × 103 cells/cm².
