Description

YPD Broth is a rich, general-purpose liquid medium designed for the cultivation and propagation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Pichia pastoris, and other yeast species. Widely used in molecular cloning, protein expression, and enrichment applications, this medium supports robust yeast growth with a balanced composition: peptic digest of animal tissue supplies essential nitrogenous nutrients, yeast extract contributes both nitrogen and B vitamins, and dextrose serves as a readily metabolizable carbohydrate and energy source. Ideal for high-density yeast cultures in research and industrial workflows.

Application 

YPD Broth is recommended for the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and other yeasts for molecular biology purposes. It supports the growth of most heterotrophic microorganisms and, due to its simple yet rich composition, is widely adopted as the basal medium for routine yeast cultivation. Standard methods in yeast genetics specify the use of YPD medium for maintaining and expanding yeast cultures.
