Noggin is a bioactive protein intended for use in cell culture applications. Noggin protein which binds to ligands of the TGF-ض family and regulates their activity by inhibiting their access to signaling receptors. Noggin was originally identified as a BMP-4 antagonist whose action is critical for proper formation of the head and other dorsal structures.

Activity:

Measure by its ability to inhibit BMP-4-induced alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC5 cells. The ED50 for this effect is <0.05 ug/mL in the presence of 50 ng/mL of recombinant human BMP-4.

Reconstitution:

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile H2O to a concentration not less than 100 ug/mL and incubate the stock solution for at least 20 min to ensure sufficient re-dissolved.

Stability and Storage:

Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20 degrees Celsius for 1 year. Upon reconstitution, store at 2 degrees Celsius to 8 degrees Celsius for up to 1 week. Further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein or stabilizer (e.g. 0.1% BSA, 10%FBS, 5%HSA or 5% trehalose solution), protein aliquots should be stored at -20 degrees Celsius or -80 degrees Celsius for 3-6 months.
