Description

This product utilizes the TUNEL (TdT-mediated dUTP Nick End Labeling) method, which enables the highly sensitive and rapid detection of cell apoptosis. It can be used for both cell samples (cell smears, cell scrapes, suspended cells) and tissue samples (paraffin sections, frozen sections). With just one staining reaction followed by washing steps, apoptotic cells, labeled with green/red fluorescence, can be detected using fluorescence microscopy or flow cytometry.
During apoptosis, specific endonucleases within the cells are activated, leading to cleavage of chromosomal DNA between nucleosomes. The DNA is fragmented into pieces of approximately 180-200 base pairs or other integer multiples. The 3'-OH ends generated by DNA fragmentation can be labeled with Dye488-dUTP through the action of Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl Transferase (TdT).
