Research Support

Successful primary melanocyte culture requires more than basic nutrient supplementation. Maintaining appropriate morphology, pigmentation-associated characteristics, and selective growth conditions is essential for researchers studying skin biology, pigmentation pathways, and melanocyte function.

Biofargo Melanocyte Basal Medium & MEGS-1 provides a specialized culture environment designed to support primary human melanocyte growth while helping researchers overcome common challenges associated with skin-derived cell culture, including unwanted keratinocyte expansion and inconsistent melanocyte morphology.

Melanocyte Morphology Observation

Primary melanocytes cultured with Biofargo Melanocyte Growth Medium exhibit characteristic dendritic morphology, allowing researchers to visually identify melanocyte-like cells during culture observation and downstream analysis.

Selective Melanocyte Expansion Support

During primary skin cell isolation, keratinocyte overgrowth may interfere with melanocyte expansion and downstream characterization. The MEGS-1 supplement system contains PMA-based functional support designed to favor melanocyte growth conditions and reduce interference from rapidly proliferating epidermal cell populations.
