Description

Maintaining consistent expansion and pluripotent characteristics of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can be challenging during routine stem cell culture workflows. Variations in cell state, passage number, recovery after thawing, and culture conditions may affect proliferation performance and downstream pluripotency analysis.

Biofargo hES/iPSC Adherent Culture Medium Kit (Low-protein, AOF) is a defined human pluripotent stem cell culture medium developed for feeder-free maintenance and expansion of human ES cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. The low-protein formulation and animal-origin-free (AOF) design help reduce complex protein background and provide a more controlled culture environment for iPSC research workflows.

Designed for researchers requiring consistent human iPSC culture conditions, Biofargo hES/iPSC Medium supports adherent stem cell expansion while maintaining commonly evaluated pluripotency characteristics. The formulation is suitable for routine iPSC maintenance, expansion studies, and stem cell research applications requiring a defined and controlled culture system.

Unlike traditional culture systems containing undefined biological components, this low-protein iPSC culture medium provides an animal-origin-free formulation designed to improve experimental consistency and reduce variability associated with complex protein backgrounds.

Performance Data

Human iPSC Expansion Performance Comparison

Biofargo hES/iPSC Low-protein Culture Medium was evaluated for human induced pluripotent stem cell expansion performance compared with TeSR™-E8™ medium. Three different iPSC sources were cultured under adherent conditions for five passages, and viable cell numbers were analyzed using AO/PI staining.

The evaluation showed that Biofargo low-protein iPSC culture medium achieved higher average expansion performance compared with TeSR™-E8™ under the tested experimental conditions.

Expansion Performance Across Multiple iPSC Lines

Three independent iPSC cell sources were evaluated to compare average expansion fold after continuous culture. Biofargo hES/iPSC Medium demonstrated consistent expansion performance across tested cell lines.

Cell Viability Analysis

Cell viability was analyzed during five-passage culture experiments. Results showed no significant difference in average viability between Biofargo low-protein medium and TeSR™-E8™ under the tested conditions.

Maintenance of Human Pluripotency Markers

Maintaining pluripotent characteristics is an important consideration during human embryonic stem cell (hESC) and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture. Biofargo hES/iPSC Adherent Culture Medium Kit was evaluated using commonly used pluripotency markers including SSEA-3 and TRA-1-81 during continuous culture experiments.

SSEA-3 Expression Analysis

SSEA-3 expression levels were evaluated after continuous passage culture. The results showed comparable SSEA-3 expression between Biofargo low-protein iPSC culture medium and TeSR™-E8™ under the tested experimental conditions.
