Description

Maintaining consistent expansion and pluripotent characteristics of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can be challenging during routine culture workflows. Problems such as slow recovery after thawing, reduced proliferation during high-passage culture, and sensitivity to environmental changes may affect downstream stem cell research applications.

Biofargo hES/iPSC Adherent Culture Medium Kit (High-protein) is a feeder-free human pluripotent stem cell culture medium designed for the maintenance and expansion of human ES and iPS cells. The high-protein formulation contains pre-screened bovine serum albumin (BSA), providing enhanced proliferation support and improved buffering capacity to help maintain stable culture conditions.

This iPSC culture medium is developed for researchers working with challenging or lower-performing hES/iPSC cultures, including high-passage cells and cells requiring recovery after thawing. Biofargo hES/iPSC Medium supports adherent stem cell culture workflows requiring reliable expansion and maintenance of pluripotent stem cell characteristics.

Performance Data

Human iPSC Expansion Performance Comparison

Biofargo hES/iPSC High-protein Medium was evaluated for human iPSC expansion performance compared with commonly used pluripotent stem cell culture media. Continuous five-passage culture experiments were performed to analyze expansion performance using AO/PI staining-based viable cell counting.

The expansion analysis showed that Biofargo high-protein iPSC culture medium demonstrated higher proliferation performance compared with mTeSR™1 and comparable expansion performance with mTeSR™ Plus under tested conditions.

Expansion Performance Across Different iPSC Lines

Expansion performance of different human iPSC lines cultured with Biofargo hES iPSC medium

Three different human iPSC sources were evaluated to compare average expansion performance across multiple cell lines. Biofargo hES/iPSC Medium showed consistent expansion performance across tested iPSC cultures.

Cell Viability Analysis

Human iPSC viability analysis during continuous culture with Biofargo stem cell culture medium

Cell viability analysis showed comparable viability results among tested culture media during the evaluation period.

Maintenance of Human Pluripotency Markers

Maintaining pluripotent characteristics is an important consideration during human ES/iPS cell culture. Biofargo hES/iPSC Medium was evaluated using commonly used pluripotency markers including SSEA-3 and TRA-1-81.

SSEA-3 pluripotency marker expression analysis in human iPSC culture using Biofargo medium

SSEA-3 expression analysis showed comparable pluripotency marker maintenance among tested culture conditions.

TRA-1-81 pluripotency marker expression analysis of human iPSC cultured with Biofargo high protein medium

TRA-1-81 expression analysis demonstrated comparable maintenance of pluripotent stem cell characteristics, with Biofargo medium showing comparable performance to mTeSR™ Plus under tested conditions.
